Derrick Smith is a renaissance man — a singer, performer and cyclist, who helps keep the music flowing as the senior director of development at Curtis Institute of Music. I think I got my positive disposition from my parents and also my willingness and ability to work hard. They taught me that people depend on you, so you have to make club to get things done. Yes, it was a very rural environment, and I absolutely fell in love with it. There was always something new for me to discover.
